History
Almost every paved stone of Rovinj hides a unique story - from ancient Rome and “Castrum Rubini”, through troubled Middle Ages and a renaissance during five centuries of Venetian rule. Once an island, Rovinj became a peninsula in 18th century, and briefly afterwards the largest and most important city in Istria.
